Here's a drawing I did for a book that I gave to a teacher who wanted a copy of All Summer in a Day for her class! I ended up liking the above drawing and just giving the teacher the prelim. But here's my process. Pose searching here. I couldn't figure out what POV I wanted, and having a terrible time with the anatomy. The above left, instead of looking like a dynamic body twist where her left arm is pushed against the floor and the right is drawing, ends up looking like a humped back. The pose was improved in the above right. It's simplified, it has better flow, and it's much better. But I wasn't sure about the POV, how was I going to light the scene if she was backlit by a window. It's always easier for me to do a 3/4 lighting scheme. I ended up picking the bottom right, even if you can't tell what I drew. The prelim I did. I still wonder if I could have stuck a window in the BG to show the dreary rain. And the ink after light boxing. I like the line weights on Margot, though the stuffed bear could have been inked more daringly. And now that I look at it, I think those extra papers in the prelim improve the composition. Rats. At any rate, I splashed Copics on this until I got to the top image. Hope you like it!
