Here is the last page from my adaptation of Ray Bradbury's Kaleidoscope. When I first started the project, the objective was always to get to these final two pages. This was the payoff that I had to work toward.
Honestly, looking at it now, I think the skill is there, but my adaptation doesn't add anything to the original story. In fact, I still think this story works much better in text. Nevertheless, these two pages are, I think, the two best pages of my adaptation. If anything, these two pages break up the story into images and lines where I can make the reader read the story the same way I did.

Every time I post, I notice what I promised in the most recent post and am embarrassed at the lack of follow through. Nevertheless, this project IS almost done. I should have all of the pages posted in the next week for sure.
Here is a prelim for the cover. If my good readers did not notice, I've also started a drawing blog where I am posting more spontaneous drawings somewhat regularly. You can see the original color piece used in the background over there. Woah, it's been eight months since the last post.
I've passed another actuarial exam, but now I finally am able to get to do some drawings again. These are some studies for my recent book, another one set in space, an adaptation of Bradbury's short story, Kaleidoscope. It will be 11 pages, published in black and white. It's taken several months now and I'm just happy to put another project out there. With a non-art job and with the more time-intensive and detailed pages, the time just kept stretching and stretching, and with a story, I'd rather wait for it to be completely finished before publishing. The first four pages should be done in a couple of weeks. Stay tuned! Tentatively, this is the cover for the comic. While some of the coloring is muddy, I think the colors really are an improvement over the black and white ink I posted earlier. The entire thing should be done soon!
Ah, so bad at posting. I should just draw more and stop being such a lazy bum.
Below is a sketch I did for one of the kids in my Awana group. It's her birthday. Really, I just wanted an excuse to draw the Inside Out characters. So rusty, I ended up with all kinds of tangents and strange overlapping shapes. And my brush pen started getting all fat and clumsy once I got to Sadness. Oh well, just keep on drawing! This is almost done! Here's the ink for my cover, which I made a rough version of earlier. I'm feeling ready to start working on other projects at this point, but have to see this one through.
